Rockets Take Game 1 in EOSHL Final
The Smiths Falls Rideaus traveled to Chesterville yesterday afternoon to face the North Dundas Rockets in Game 1 of the EOSHL Championship best-of-five series. The Rideaus struck first at 8:50 of the opening period, with Theo Todd scoring his 8th goal of the playoffs. Despite being outshot 21-8 in the first frame, the Rideaus took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Rockets responded in the second period, with Jack Nevins scoring his first goal of the playoffs to tie the game. Just 22 seconds later, Shawn Moors gave the Rockets a 2-1 lead. Andrew Radjenovic extended the lead with a late goal, putting the Rockets up by two heading into the third. Despite being heavily outshot 43-14 after 40 minutes, the Rideaus remained in the game.
Early in the third, Devin Cobbold pulled the Rideaus within one with a shorthanded goal, his 6th of the playoffs. However, Radjenovic sealed the win for the Rockets with his second goal of the game on the power play late in the period.
The game featured 14 penalties, with both teams called for 7 infractions each. Smiths Falls goaltender Dallas Slack made 52 saves on 56 shots (.929 save percentage), earning second-star honors. Rockets goaltender Matt Jenkins stopped 25 of 27 shots in the win.
The Rideaus will host the Rockets for Game 2 on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre.
